Mayors Launch Web Campaign to Promote Climate Protection
Submitted by Bill Becker on 09/Jan/2007
Message:
More than 400 mayors in 43 states are leading 66 million Americans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, according to Mayors for Climate Protection, a new alliance of U.S. mayors who have committed their cities to addressing the risks of climate change either through ICLEI's Cities for Climate Protection Campaign or the U.S. Conference of Mayors' Climate Protection Agreement.
The Mayors for Climate Protection website offers information about climate change and how these mayors intend to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy, recycle waste, plant trees, plan smart growth, reduce traffic congestion, or "whatever it takes to bring about climate protection, piece by piece, solution by solution," according to the group's mission statement.
The site offers tips, tools, success stories, profiles of mayors, and other information to help any city to take action.
